OSHA 2007 INSPECTION
PLAN
In May, 2007, OSHA announced that its Site-Specific Targeting (SST) plan
will focus on approximately 4,150 high-hazard worksites for their
unannounced comprehensive inspections for the upcoming year.
This year’s program will focus on injury and illness data from
2005. The program will focus
on the worksites that reported 11 or more injuries or illnesses
resulting in days away from work, restricted work or job transfers for
every 100 full-time employees (also known as the DART rate).
The primary target list will also focus on sites that reported Days Away
from Work Injury and Illness (DAFWII) with a rate of 9.0 or higher. A
secondary target list will include facilities that reported a DART rate
between 7.0 and 11.0 or a DAFWII rate between 4.0 and 9.0. In 2005, the
DART rate was 2.4 for private industry and the DAFWII rate was 1.4.
OSHA is also planning to inspect approximately 100 worksites nationwide,
with at least 100 employees, which reported low injury and illness rates
for the purpose of reviewing the actual degree of compliance with OSHA
requirements.
Reminder: Employers are responsible for providing a safe and healthful
workplace for their employees.
